Activity Mail is a participatory workshop that was hosted during the Visual Communication MA Symposium at the RCA. Through interactive postcards with absorbing prompts, an intimate and meditative experience was produced. The workshop ends with the participants delivering their postcards in a makeshift mailbox at the front of the room.

In Activity Mail, my team and I wanted to introduce an aspect of our research projects to the teaching staff and students of our program through the medium of postcards. Each member designed several prompts, disseminating a total of 336 postcards in the auditorium.

While managing time on stage and overlooking the atmosphere, a reflective and meditative environment was produced as every participants responded quietly to individual postcards. The responses received were enlightening and indicative of individual and collective thought.

In the brainstorming and organisation of Activity Mail, Miro was our preferred method of collaborating and sharing our thoughts. We began by brainstorming different ways of activating the space, moving onto refinements based on feedback from tutors, and finally a timeline, agenda and distribution of roles.
